I've known Erin and Benny since my days as a student at Morehouse. Benny served with me in the student senate, and later the student government association, and I met and got to know Erin when she was on the Miss Maroon & White (Miss Morehouse) court.
I was so thrilled when Benny contacted me, inquiring about an engagement session. Initially, I assumed we'd just shoot it between the campuses of Morehouse and Spelman, but then Erin shared with me that she and Benny met at the famed ESPN Zone in Buckhead and wanted to take pictures there. ESPN Zone was raised a few years ago, and in its place, sits a glorious six story Restoration Hardware. Restoration Hardware is an impossible to ignore edifice that is so alluring that traffic backs up while riding by on the bustling Buckhead intersections between West Paces Ferry, Peachtree St. and the Shops of Buckhead.
The staff at Restoration Hardware was so gracious, and we shot these photos on a sunny afternoon on their expansive back patio area.
An Atlanta native, and a graduate of Spelman College, Erin is an assistant professor in the department of Educational Psychology at Miami University, and holds a Ph.D., M.Ed. and Ed.S. from Georgia State University. Benny, a native of Tallulah, LA, is a Morehouse Man, who studied at the London School of Economics, and earned a juris doctorate from New York University Law School. His company, Incorporated Protections, provides legal advice, strategies and execution for startups, small businesses, production companies and free-lance creators.
Their photos capture their vibrant and colorful personalities, and to make the shoot as uniquely 'them' as possible, we walked across the street and finished the shoot with burgers, fries and a red velvet shake from Shake Shack.
The day was definitely warm (Atlanta in July), but the perfectly sporadic breezes and cloud coverage arrived at the right time, and we were able to take some very beautiful pictures.
It was so very special for me to be able to capture a celebration in this exciting time in the life of my dear friends.
